Join us: 2022 serpent mount
The charter bus trip to Serpent Mound in Ohio scheduled for June 17-20 has been CANCELED due to the rise in positive COVID-19 cases in northeast Oklahoma and Adams County, Ohio. Additionally, tribal offices in Miami and Guymon will be operating at a limited capacity beginning Thursday, June 16, as the Tribe regresses from Phase 3 to Phase 2 of our Tribal Reopening Amidst COVID-19 Safely Policy (TRACS).
The Shawnee Tribe Office of Emergency Management (STOEM) continuously monitors COVID-19 infection rates and other pertinent data to ensure our staff and citizens’ health. STOEM outlined protocols to ensure this trip could continue as planned while minimizing the risk of spreading the virus amongst our citizens, staff and the public. However, we saw a sharp uptick in the number of our community members testing positive for, or being exposed to the virus, over the past two days, which led to the decision to cancel this year’s trip and adjust the operations at our Shawnee Tribe facilities.
| Office | Term | Incumbent |
|---|---|---|
| Chieff | 4 years | Ben Barness |
| Business Counsul Seat 1 | 1 years | Carolyn Smith |
| Business Counsul Seat 2 | 2 years | Diana Mclean |
We are disappointed to not have the gathering we hoped for this solstice, but the health of our citizens, staff and community is paramount. We apologize for the inconveniences this may cause those who were planning to join us in Ohio and have already notified and processed refunds for those who were registered to attend the bus trip.
