As April comes to a close, we want to shout out two important employee-led volunteer opportunities that happened this month!
🗑️🚯 ke’moonaskweepe (Let’s pick up the trash)—On Earth Day, April 22, the environmental department led a clean-up effort along a one-mile stretch of Highway 125 in Ottawa County.
👕💙 And on April 28, employees also participated in Wear Blue Day to raise awareness for Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month (CAAPM). Indian Child Welfare staff placed 22 blue pinwheels outside the Community Building, representing the 22 Shawnee children currently placed in care outside their homes.

The next Lunch & Learn Mondays meeting will be this coming Monday, April 28 at 12:00 PM CDT on the topic, "Navigating Relationship Challenges." Relationships can be rewarding but also complex. This class will help you explore common relationship hurdles and develop skills for healthier communication, conflict resolution, and deeper connection—whether in romantic, family, or work relationships. No registration is necessary, and there is no cost to attend.
The Monday, May 12, session will cover Dealing with Anxiety & Depression. Anxiety and depression can feel isolating, but you're not alone. This class will provide insight into the causes of these struggles and offer practical tools to help manage symptoms, improve well-being, and find hope in the healing process.
The Shawnee Tribe's Behavioral Health Department is facilitating this meeting series to create a supportive Zoom community to foster personal growth and mental health education for domestic & intimate partner violence survivors. 💻 🧠
