Election Filing Period Opens Soon

Candidacy filing period runs from Monday, June 6 through Friday, June 17 for the following elective offices: Shawnee Tribe Treasurer, Fourth Business Council Seat & Seventh Business Council Seat

SHAWNEE TRIBE NOTICE OF FILING REQUIREMENTS

AND CALL FOR DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY

In accordance with the Constitution of the Shawnee Tribe, and Title 6 – The Shawnee Tribe Elections Act, the Election Committee of the Shawnee Tribe announces an election shall be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, for the following elective offices: 

  • Shawnee Tribe Treasurer, 4-year term, currently held by Mark McDowell
  • Fourth Business Council Seat, 2-year term, currently held by Corey Winesburg
  • Seventh Business Council Seat, 4-year term, currently held by Kenny Hood


Candidacy Filing:

Filing opens: Monday, June 6, 2022

Filing closes: Friday, June 17, 2022


Manner of filing:

Written or typed statement indicating intent to run, signed by candidate.  Please include the title of the office in which you are filing for, your Shawnee Tribe roll number, name, date of birth, address, and phone number.


Qualifications:

As per the Shawnee Tribe Constitution and Tribal Election Act.


Filing Fees:

Treasurer – $20.00

Council Seat – $15.00


*Due to COVID-19, our offices have limited access to visitors. Tribal staff will receive filings by mail or by appointment for hand-delivered filings.  Please call 918-542-2441 to make arrangement for hand-delivered filings. The filing fee must be included with the candidate statement; personal checks, cashier’s checks, and money orders will be accepted. All filings must be postmarked by 6/17/2022.
