Election Notice: Call for Declarations of Candidacy

NOTICE OF FILING REQUIREMENTS

In accordance with the Constitution of the Shawnee Tribe, and Title 6 of the Shawnee Tribe Elections Act, the Election Committee of the Shawnee Tribe announces an election shall be held on September 18, 2021 for the following elective offices:  Fifth Councilman and Sixth Councilman to the Shawnee Tribe Business Council.  Those positions are currently held by Monte Coombes and Roberta Coombes respectfully.


Candidacy Filing:

Filing opens: Monday, June 7, 2021

Filing closes: Friday, June 18, 2021


Manner of filing:

Written or typed statement indicating intent to run, signed by candidate; include title of office in which you are filing for; Shawnee Tribal Roll number; candidates name, address, and phone number.


Qualifications:

As per the Shawnee Tribe Constitution and Tribal Election Act.


Filing Fees:

Council Seat: $15.00

*Due to COVID-19, our offices have limited access to visitors. Tribal staff will receive filings by mail or by appointment for hand-delivered filings.  Please phone the office to make arrangements for hand-delivered filings. The filing fee must be included with the candidate statement; personal checks, cashier’s checks, and money orders will be accepted. All filings must be postmarked by June 18, 2021.
