MIAMI OFFICES CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC BEGINNING 9/7

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Due to the high transmission rates of COVID-19 infections in Northeast Oklahoma and to ensure our staff and council’s health, always but especially now in the days leading to the Annual General Council Meeting, all Shawnee Tribe facilities and the Shawnee Tribe Cultural Center in Miami will be closed to the public beginning on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. For now, this closure does not affect tribal facilities in Guymon, OK. Tribal administration will continue monitoring Texas county cases closely.

Document drop boxes will be made available for citizens to pick up and drop off program or enrollment paperwork at tribal headquarters.

As with previous phases of the Shawnee Tribe Reopening Amongst COVID-19 Safely Plan (TRACS), this closure will continue for at least 30 days, at which time Shawnee leadership will evaluate the current data, tracking the trends of the COVID-19 case status. This evaluation will be utilized in determining the status of the Tribal reopening. Each evaluation has the potential to 1) create an emergency closure, 2) remain steady in a phase for an extended period 3) phase regression or 4) progressing to the next phase.

Please direct questions or concerns to admin@shawnee-tribe.com.
