2K FOUNDATIONS SUPPORTING SHAWNEE LANGUAGE REVITALIZATION

On February 3, tribal leaders and the Shawnee language team hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony unveiling a newly renovated recording studio at the Emma “Mock” Donaldson saawanwaatoweewika (Shawnee language house) with citizens and staff from Firaxis Games. 2K Foundations, the charitable giving subsidiary of 2K Games, has provided generous support to renovate and fully equip the studio in celebration of the Shawnee Tribe’s involvement in the video game Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, which was released on February 11.
The Recording Studio is named after first language specialist George “Fife” Blanchard, who was in attendance with his family. Shawnee citizen and voice actor Dillon Dean, featured as the voice of the historical figure Tecumseh in Civ VII, recited lines from the game and a winter story while guests toured the new recording studio after the ribbon-cutting.
